What is PatientNotes?

PatientNotes is an AI-powered medical scribe that listens to your patient encounters and automatically generates clinical documentation. It transcribes conversations in real-time, identifies speakers, and creates structured notes like SOAP notes, H&Ps, and Progress Notes.

How does PatientNotes work?

Simply start a recording during your patient visit. PatientNotes captures the conversation, transcribes it with speaker identification, and then uses AI to generate a complete clinical note in your chosen format. You can review, edit, and export the note to your EHR.

What devices can I use PatientNotes on?

PatientNotes works in any modern web browser on desktop, laptop, or tablet. We support Chrome (recommended), Safari, Firefox, and Edge. All you need is a microphone and internet connection.

Do you have a mobile app?

PatientNotes is a web-based application that works on mobile browsers. A dedicated iOS and Android app is coming soon. Sign up for our newsletter to be notified when it launches.

How much does PatientNotes cost?

PatientNotes costs $70/month per provider, or $50/month when billed annually ($600/year). This includes unlimited sessions, all templates, AI assistant, and team features. Save over 28% with annual billing.

Is there a free trial?

Yes! All new users get a 7-day free trial with full access to all features. No credit card required to start.

Are there any limits on sessions?

No! All paid plans include unlimited sessions. Record as many patient encounters as you need without worrying about usage limits or overage charges.

Can I cancel anytime?

Yes, you can cancel your subscription at any time. You'll retain access until the end of your current billing period. There are no cancellation fees or long-term contracts.

Features & Functionality

What note templates are available?

PatientNotes includes templates for SOAP Notes, H&P, Progress Notes, Procedure Notes, Psychiatric Evaluations, and many specialty-specific formats. You can also create custom templates.

Does PatientNotes work with telehealth visits?

Yes! PatientNotes works great for telehealth visits. Use a headset for best results, and ensure your system audio routes through your microphone to capture both sides of the conversation.

How long can recordings be?

There's no hard limit on recording length. PatientNotes can handle extended visits, procedures, and multi-hour sessions. For best results, we recommend keeping individual recordings under 2 hours.

What languages are supported?

PatientNotes supports transcription in English, Spanish, French, Portuguese, and several other languages. The AI can generate notes in the same language or translate to English.

Can I edit the generated notes?

Absolutely! You can edit notes directly or use the AI assistant to make changes. Ask the AI to "expand the assessment," "add differentials," or make any other modifications you need.

Security & HIPAA

Is PatientNotes HIPAA compliant?

Yes, PatientNotes is designed with HIPAA compliance in mind. We use encryption, secure data handling, and offer Business Associate Agreements (BAAs) for all subscribers. See our Security page for details.

How is my data protected?

All data is encrypted in transit (TLS) and at rest (AES-256). Audio recordings are processed and deleted after transcription. We use secure cloud infrastructure with SOC 2 compliance.

Do you store audio recordings?

Audio recordings are processed for transcription and then securely deleted. We retain only the text transcript and generated notes, which you can export or delete at any time.

Will you sign a BAA?

Yes, we provide Business Associate Agreements (BAAs) for all paid subscribers. This is included with your subscription at no additional cost.

Technical Questions

What if my internet connection drops during recording?

PatientNotes saves audio locally during recording. If you lose connection, the audio is preserved and will process when you reconnect. You won't lose your session.

Does it work offline?

PatientNotes requires an internet connection for transcription and note generation. However, recording works offline, and content will process when you reconnect.

How accurate is the transcription?

Transcription accuracy is typically 95%+ with good audio quality. Our AI is trained on medical conversations and recognizes medical terminology, drug names, and clinical language.

What microphone should I use?

Built-in laptop microphones work, but external USB microphones or headsets provide better quality. Position the microphone to capture both you and the patient clearly.
